Buffalo Wild Wings said to be eyeing two sites in Cottage Grove
The wide array of wing sauces and infamous Blazin' Wing Challenge just might be on its way into Cottage Grove as Buffalo Wild Wings is said to be in talks with Cottage Grove city officials.
Mayor Myron Bailey confirmed last week the wing king has sights set on possibly two sites in Cottage Grove but he would not provide specifics.
"We are definitely talking to them," Bailey said. "We are absolutely hoping they will be able to come to an agreement."
Bailey and Economic Development Director Danette Parr met with Buffalo Wild Wings representatives during the International Council for Shopping Centers retail convention in Las Vegas last month.
"I know they called the city to talk about a liquor license recently and I personally have seen a floor plan," Bailey said. "So, it's moving forward."
He could not confirm if the restaurant would be filling an existing vacant lot or if a new site would be built.
Buffalo Wild Wings representatives did not return messages seeking comment.
Bailey said just because the city is in talks with Buffalo Wild Wings, "that doesn't say anything," he said, noting the Famous Dave's barbecue restaurant that was planned for Cottage Grove but still has not opened.
"Until those doors are open will I feel comfortable saying it's a done deal," Bailey added of Buffalo Wild Wings. "But, we are encouraged with how the process is going so far."
With the nearest Buffalo Wild Wings located in Oakdale, Maplewood and Eagan, Bailey said the restaurant would be a great addition to the community.
