The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office identified the remains as belonging to Timothy Michael Pease, a 2000 Park High School graduate who went missing in February 2010 while snowmobiling on the St. Croix River.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Pease likely drowned after falling through the ice. He had been snowmobiling on the river Feb. 5, 2010. At the time, law enforcement searched by boat and helicopter. They located a helmet and snowmobile but had to call off the search for Pease due to inclement weather. Family held a memorial service for Pease days later.

At the time he went missing, Pease was an expectant father and worked for Rumpca Companies in St. Paul Park.

Authorities received a call at 11:56 a.m. Sunday to respond to mile marker No. 11 across from Windmill Marina in Afton for a possible body in the water.

Deputies from Washington and St. Croix counties responded and found the body in the water. The remains had been in the water "for a long period of time," a sheriff's office release states, adding that it was in a serious state of decomposition.
