Another water main break in Newport drops water pressure Monday
Most of Newport is expected to experience low water pressure Monday following the second break in the city's water main system in five days, with the most recent incident impacting water lines that feed Newport's water reservoir.
The burst pipe, reported by the city mid-morning, forced public works employees to cut water to around 10 homes and lowered water pressure to much of the city while the city worked to fix the break.
Monday's incident follows a water main break last Thursday that cut running water to as many as 30 homes. Assistant Public Works Superintendent John Neska said the main break Monday was less severe, though the city had no timeline for when the pipe would be repaired.
