The Park boys swimming and diving team returns most of last year's core to the pool in 2009-10 and hopes to improve upon its 0-9 Suburban East Conference record from a year ago.
Leading the way this season will be senior diver Tyler Gelbmann and swimmers Nick Bibeau, Conner Rand, Travis Dorsch and Matt Henry.
Gelbmann, a team co-captain this season alongside Bibeau, was the Wolfpack's lone Class AA state meet representative last season.
Gelbmann earned his first trip to state after finishing in fourth place overall with a score of 254.75 at the Section 4AA meet and finished in 30th place at state with a 110.30 score in the preliminary round.
Park will need to replace key 2009 graduates Andrew Treadway and Dallas Campbell this year, but Park head coach Amanda Johnson thinks the Wolfpack have the athletes to do so.
"I am very excited about the season," said Johnson, who is in her second year as head coach of the Park boys team. "We have the potential this year to win some key meets. A lot of our boys are doing off season training which will help tremendously this year."
Last season, Park's lone win came in a non-conference dual with Tartan.
The Wolfpack faces the Titans again this season, on Tuesday, Jan. 4, in Oakdale.
Other key contests are the home and SEC opener against Roseville on Thursday, Dec. 16, at Cottage Grove Middle School; the Woodbury Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 18, and home dual meets with intra-district rivals Woodbury and East Ridge on Tuesday, Jan. 11, and Thursday, Jan. 20, respectively.
