11:15 p.m. update: Bailey builds big lead in Cottage Grove mayoral race
With a growing lead of more than 2,000 votes -- and with over half the city's precincts reporting -- Cottage Grove Mayor Myron Bailey appears set to coast toward second term Tuesday night.
Bailey has collected more than 4,200 votes, or 52 percent of ballots counted, from six of the city's 11 precincts, as of shortly after 11 p.m., and is building an increasingly comfortable lead over his nearest challenger, first time candidate Chad Rediske.
Another pair of challengers -- Chad Magle and Lezlie Schriver, who did not actively campaign - each trail Bailey by more than 3,000 votes.
If results hold, Bailey, 49, would be returned to Cottage Grove City Hall for his second, four-year term as the city's top elected official. He was first elected to the City Council in 2004.
