Weekend Planner: Lots of craft shows this weekend


ST. LUKE'S BOUTIQUE -- The craft fair at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Hinton Avenue and 70th Street, in Cottage Grove, will start a full weekend of craft fairs throughout the area. The fair at St. Luke's will run three days with lunch available on Friday and Saturday. The hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 5 and 6, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7.

OAKWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH invites everyone to its first bazaar, 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7. The church is located at 1388 Point Douglas Road, St. Paul, half a mile north of the intersection of Highways 494 and 61. Items for sale will include work by local artists and craftspeople. There will be homemade food to purchase and live music to entertain shoppers.


'SEUSSICAL' AT EAST RIDGE -- The East Ridge High School production of "Seussical: The Musical" will be presented at the school's Loft Stage at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6 and at 7 p.m. on Nov. 7, 13 and 14. On Nov. 8, 14 and 15 matinees are scheduled at 2 p.m. Tickets are $7 for students, and seniors, and $9 for adults if purchased in advance. To purchase in advance, go online at or call (651) 768-2416. The price increases $1 when tickets are purchased at the door.


CRAFT SALES EVERYWHERE -- This is craft fair weekend.

At St. Rita's Catholic Church, 8694 80th St., in Cottage Grove, visitors will be welcomed to the parish's 40th annual craft fair, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7. Sloppy Joe sandwiches, hotdogs and homemade baked items will be available for purchase.

Parishioners at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 920 Holley Ave., in St. Paul Park, are hosting their 37th annual holiday craft fair and bazaar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8. Activities will include a granny's attic, baked goods, lunch and a pancake breakfast on Sunday.

A holiday arts, crafts and gift show will take place at the National Guard Armory, 8180 Belden Blvd. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7. Members of the St. Paul Park Athletic Association traveling baseball booster club will run the concession stand from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Walking tacos, refreshments and baked goods will all be available to purchase.

All Saints Lutheran Church invites everyone to its craft and quilt sale, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7. Homemade soup, lefse, krum kake, rosettes and candy will also be available for purchase.

Seniors at Red Rock Manor in Newport will be selling crafts, baked goods, Sloppy Joe sandwiches, tacos in a bag, and cookies and bars from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 1421 10th Avenue. Everyone is welcome to stop by.

The Ladies Auxiliary of Cottage Grove VFW Post 8752 is hosting a craft show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the VFW Red Barn, 9260 East Point Douglas Road. Lunch will be available to purchase. Proceeds from the event will help support veterans and the Serviceman's Center at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.


TIMEBANK EXCHANGE -- We the People TimeBank is a volunteer service exchange in Washington County and St. Croix County, Wis., in which individuals, organizations and businesses help each other by exchanging services. TimeBank members will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Stillwater Public Library, 224 North Third St. Anyone interested in learning about TimeBank is welcome to attend, according to a press release. BELLS FOR PEACE -- Bells will ring for peace in south Washington County at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11 -- Veteran's Day -- at St. Rita's Catholic Church, All Saints Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Church, all in Cottage Grove, and at Community United Church of Christ in St. Paul Park. Those who want to acknowledge the day with prayer, remembrance and hope are invited to coffee and fellowship at 10:30 a.m. at Community United Church of Christ, 1145 Summit Avenue.

APPLEBEE'S THANKS VETS -- Applebee's Neighborhood Bar and Grill, 8380 East Point Douglas Road in Cottage Grove is giving veterans and active duty members of the military a free entrée on Veteran's Day, Nov. 11. All you have to do is show proof of military service.

DINNER FOR VFW MEMBERS -- Cottage Grove VFW Post 8752 is serving a free dinner to members on Wednesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veteran's Day. All members, spouses, Auxiliary members and volunteers are welcome to gather for a brief program followed by a roast beef dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, salad, roll and desert.
