Weekend planner: chorus performs at St. Thomas Aquinas


HANDBELL CHOIR - The Madrigal and Handbell Choir from Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, Wis., will perform in concert at 7 p.m. worship Friday, March 13, at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 9979 80th St., Cottage Grove. SOFTBALL BENEFIT AT DEMORI'S - CGAA's 10U Green-Yaritz softball team is hosting an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner from 12 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at DeMori's Restaurant, Oakdale, just off Highway 494 exit 10. Dinner is $8 and includes spaghetti, salad, bread, beverage and Baker's Square pie. All proceeds will help support the team. For details, call Chris Silvis at (651) 768-7011.


CHORUS TO PERFORM - In celebration of the 125th anniversary of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, the Woodbury Chorus and Orchestra will perform in concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at the church, 920 Holley Ave., in St. Paul Park.

A freewill offering will be taken during the concert and donated to the Friends in Need Food Shelf, in St. Paul Park.

The program, "Reach the world," is composed of choral and orchestral music including selections of Mozart, Brahms, and Gospel.


ALL ABOUT LOCAL APPLE ORCHARDS - Learn all about the "Outstanding Apple Orchards of Denmark Township" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at the Township Hall, 90th and Oakgreen streets. The free program will be hosted by the Denmark Township Historical Society and will include stories about Afton Apple, Fischer Croix Farm, McDougall's Apple Junction, Whistling Well Farm and Carpenter Nature Center. COMMUNITY BAND CONCERT - The South Washington County Community Band will perform in concert at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, at Cottage Grove Junior High School. The program will feature music from around the world including Scotland, Ireland, India, Egypt and the United States.

CORNED BEEF DINNER - Cottage Grove VFW Post 8752 will serve corned beef and cabbage from 2 to 7 p.m. on St. Patrick's Day, Tuesday, March 17, at the Red Barn, 9260 East Point Douglas Road, in Cottage Grove. The cost is $6 per plate. For those who don't want corned beef, cooks will offer tacos, quesadillas and hamburger baskets.
