Weekend planner: Boy Scout can drive this weekend


TEE OFF FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE -- The 10th annual "Tee Off for Academic Excellence Golf Tournament," is scheduled Friday, Sept. 26, at Mississippi Dunes Golf Course, Cottage Grove. Hosted by the South Washington County Schools Education Foundation, the shotgun start is set for noon, with dinner afterwards at the clubhouse. The Citizen of the Year Award will be announced during dinner. All are invited to participarte. The fee is $110. All proceeds from the tournament will help support grants throughout the district.


BOY SCOUT CAN DRIVE -- Cottage Grove Boy Scout Troop 55 will be collecting aluminum cans from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at All Saints Lutheran Church, 8100 Belden Blvd., Cottage Grove, across the street from the Armory. Proceeds will help support the purchase of equipment for the troop.

LEDUC COUNTRY MARKET --The second annual LeDuc/Simmons Country Market, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, in Hastings, will add art work and antique appraisals to activities. Art from the Hastings Art Council Art Crawl will be displayed and owners can bring items for appraisal from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The charge is $5 per item or three items for $10. The market will also offer garden produce, baked goods, crafts, antiques and collectibles, all at the LeDuc Historic Estate, 1620 Vermillion St., Hastings. Admission to the grounds is free but tours of the house, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., range from $3 to $6.

HASTINGS ARTS CRAWL -- The Hastings Arts Crawl will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, in Hastings with stops in Denmark Township, Vermillion and Welch. For a complete list of stops and a map, go to or call Debbie Saunders at (651) 437-9233.


POLICE EXPLORERS -- Hastings Police Explorers Post 567 is holding a meeting at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Hastings Police Department, 150 East Third St., Hastings. BRASS GROUP LEADS WORSHIP -- The "Reformation Brass" is a group of gifted musicians who will lead the congregation at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in worship at 8 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 28. All are welcome to the worship service, at the church, 1000 Portland Ave., St. Paul Park.
