Retired ironworker Tom Hinz tells Oltman Middle School students what it’s like to work in the construction industry. Hinz, 58, of Afton, shared his experiences during the school’s Career Day Nov. 12. Hinz is the father of Oltman math teacher Stacy Hinz. Students seemed particularly interested in how he managed to walk on iron beams hundreds of feet in the air without falling. “You want a little bit of fear,” Hinz said. “That fear keeps you safe.” (Bulletin photo by William Loeffler)
