Sgt. Aaron Burdash, 27, was honored as the USO National Guardsman of the Year for helping to save the lives of two seriously wounded Egyptian soldiers while deployed on the Sinai Peninsula earlier this year. Born and raised in Cottage Grove, he attended the awards gala in Washington D.C. Oct. 20 with his father, Scott, sister Katie, mother Penny and brother Daniel (from left).
