The Evergreen Community Cemetery Association will hold a Memorial Day service beginning at 11:15 a.m. Monday, May 28, at the cemetery, directly west of Memorial Lutheran Church, County Road 18 in Afton. All are welcome to attend. An Honor Guard from Hudson VFW Post 2115 will present arms followed by a vocal offering by Mary Lou Clymer. A student from Afton-Lakeland Elementary School will recite “Flanders Field.” Rev. Steve Kramer, pastor at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Afton, will speak. The names of veterans buried at the cemetery will be read and there will be an audience sing-along.
